I take it you already know,
Of tough and bough and cough and dough.
Others may stumble, but not you,
On hiccough, thorough, laugh and through.
Well done! And now you wish, perhaps,
To learn of less familiar traps.
Beware of heard, a dreadful word,
That looks like beard and sounds like bird.
And dead – it’s said like bed, not bead,
For goodness’ sake, don’t call it ‘deed’!
Watch out for meat and great and threat,
(They rhyme with suite and straight and debt).
A moth is not a moth in mother,
Nor both in bother, broth in brother.
And here is not a match for there,
Nor dear and fear for bear and pear.
And then there’s dose and rose and lose –
Just look them up – and goose and choose.
And cork and work and card and ward,
And font and front and word and sword.
And do and go and thwart and cart –
Come, come, I’ve hardly made a start!
A dreadful language? Why man alive!
I’d mastered it when I was five.
Woo! My buddy won free tickets to Evil Dead: The Musical, but can’t attend, so bow I’m the lucky recipient. I wanted to see this show for awhile now and free is good by me.
I’ll keep you posted on how it is.
I recently upgraded my phone to the latest firmware and with the beauty of the app store, I can now write posts on the fly. Not that I actually will, but at least now I know I can.
I gave up on the mighty mouse. I tried and tried and tried to convince myself that it was as good mouse. It just looked so cool, but it was awful awful awful. I switched right back to my MX510 without a second thought.
The mighty mouse was plagued with issues: Right clicks would constantly be mistaken with left clicks and for some strange reason, the point would just randomly fly all over the screen before settling down again, making any task that needed precise clicking rather annoying.
Farewell mighty mouse. You need to try again.
You ever try and slow down your walk??! That’s a hard thing to do!
This morning I decided that I would stroll into work, rather than rush in like a usually do and get all crazy sweaty. You try and keep the pace down, but you really need to be conscious about it, or you’ll be zooming around in no time. Plus, it doesn’t help when everyone is speeding by at light speed around you.
Well, I managed to add 5 minutes to my walk this morning. I’m going to try and keep it up and take my time.
Now that I’m back from Delaware and I’m trying to get settled into my new place, I’ll be creating some new life mandates for myself. I want to have the most enjoyable summer I can. So here are a few thing, in no particular order.
- Eat Slower. Enjoy my food! I find I’m just eating for eating sake, rather than sitting down and savouring each bite. I find my taste buds are changing and I’m enjoying more varieties of food. This is the perfect time.
- Take more pictures. I have a camera and I have a flickr account. I haven’t updated anything on there for along time now. I am going to find a reason to take a picture everyday.
- Finish my blog. Basically, I need to finish my about page and personalize it even more. I need to redesign it so it’s one of my designs and reflects myself even more.
- Write. I keep talking about writing, but I’m not doing it. Less talkie talkie, more writey writey.
- Ignore the women. Not permanently!!!! Just for now. I’ve been too busy chasing women, that I actually haven’t had time to reflect on my own life. Why am I in such a rush for? I figure for this summer, and perhaps the rest of the year I’m just going to concentrate on myself and the bettering of myself. Only once I’m truly happy with my life, will I find someone to share it with. If I do somehow meet someone, I’m not going to turn em away, I’m just going to stop the pursuit.
- Slow down with the alcohol (don’t give up… slow down!). Stop trying to find the artificial high and try seeking out activities that will give you a natural high. Alcohol causes more problems than most people actually think it solves. At least, I need to give up the beer for awhile and stick to something else if I go out, like vodka.
That’s what I have so far, and this is what I need to do! Maybe I’ll even inspire others to try some of these!
I saw the Indy movie last night, and it rocked! There were a lot of doubts with this movie, but it’s packed full of entertainment! It doesn’t quite hold a candle to the previous Indy films, but I still recommend it anyways!
Plus, they’ve recently discovered the secret lyrics John Williams wrote for the theme. Click Here.
Also, I’ve always had a thing for Cate Blanchett, so this movie gets extra points from me.
Closer to what you ask? Well, probably not, but I’m going to tell you anyways: Being debt free!
Yes, today I paid off my last remaining balance on my credit card! Well, one of my cards, but this means I no longer carry any balance on any of my cards. Of course, I was so foolish before to do such a thing, but I took the time and sacrifice to pay it off. Now, I only have one more manageable loan remaining, that it itself is being aggressively paid off.
Now, I’ve been able to increase my RRSP contribution and my monthly savings. Now, the monthly savings I have is for emergency money. Once I get to a point where I have 3 months worth of expenses covered, I’m going reallocate my contributions back over to my debt to pay it off even faster!
Once that’s all done, I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank, plus I’ll have plenty saved up for a nice down payment on a house or condo. Wooo!!!
I conquered my fear of tomatoes last night! I has bruschetta and it tasted awesome! No longer will I hold the tomato on my sandwiches. No longer will I fear the all mighty red.
If fact, after it was all done, my said fear was rather quite silly. Long live the tomato!!!!!
Update:
Just had an assorted sub with tomatoes!!
After having a fun filled multiplayer GTA IV day will Gwildor, I looked over at my younger neglected console the Wii. I even thought about spinning it up and playing some Mario Kart, but it was a fleeting feeling. I really don’t play it that much at all. In fact, I barely touch my 360, but it has all that rocking multimedia capabilities; I use that on a daily basis! I finally got an Airpot Express, so my box is back on the network. In fact, everything is wireless now!
Anywho, back to the point. It’s not set in stone, I was just doing some thinking. If I am to sell my Wii, it would be for $600. You get the system, two Wii-motes with nunchuks, 6 games and a Wii-mote charging station.
Like I said, not set in stone yet, just thinking about it. The way I am with things is if I don’t find a use for it anymore, I don’t like it taking up space in my apartment. I’m not a big fan of clutter at all.
That’s my two cents.
Update:
$600 seems a bit too much, I’m now going for $500.
