Well,

It’s official. Mark has moved out of the place by dropping off his keys. As you may or may not know, I’ve decided to stay in the place without a roomate. It’s going to be quite the increase in my expenses, but I believe it will all be worth it.

This is my very first place on my own!! It’s pretty cool. I can do anything I want now! That being said, I don’t know what I want to do. ;)

My first mission, turn his old room into my office. I’ve always wanted an office, so now I get one! w00t w00t!

Next mission: Classified. If you find out, I will have to kill you.

I’m really getting tire of commercial software, especially when there are tons of free software out there that does the same job, or even better.

A while back, I purchased BulletProof FTP. It used to rock, so I bought it, which includes a lifetime of free updates. Well.. the recent update they made turned it into a really shitty FTP client. (I think because they want you to upgrade to their new super version.) Anywho.. it was unstable, and constantly shut down while I was uploading files.

I removed it and installed FileZilla. Works like charm! No disconnect, and it even seems faster than BPFTP. Sure, it may not look pretty, but neither did BP anyways.

As well, my subscription to Norton Antivirus just expired. The one thing that really bugged me about Norton is even though I just purchased the anti-virus software, it seemed to have included an internet blocker, similar to zone alarm. That thing drove me nuts! Not only did it only seem to work randomly, there was no option to uninstall or disable it. I just wanted virus protection, not a whole suite of apps… I already have those!! Free ones!! Anywho.. I recently install AVG free and it works great. It even freed up many resources that the Norton hog used to take up.

Also, I’m using the OpenOffice suite. It’s got everything I need! The one item I truely would like though, is a Calendar program, like Macs iCal. Then everything will be perfect on my machine!

Bye bye commercial apps!! I can’t believe I was paying to for shittier products than free ones! :P

Suck it!
